Bangladeshi workers want higher wages

Still on the topic of the labour market, workers in the Bangladesh clothing industry are demanding higher wages. Currently earning $25 per month unions are now bargaining for 3 times this figure. Bangladesh has about 4000 factories that export in bulk to international companies including Wal-Mart, Tesco, H&M, Zara, Carrefour, Gap, Metro, JCPenney, Marks & Spencer, Kohl’s, Levi Strauss and Tommy Hilfiger. Relative to the rest of the world, Bangladesh workers are among the lowest-paid and have difficulty buying basic necessities on their monthly earnings.
